ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Dr. Linoy Namdar in a field excavation

Hello!

I'm Dr. Linoy Namdar, an archaeologist specializing in Zooarchaeology, exploring the fascinating bond between humans and animals in the ancient world.

I earned my PhD at Tel Aviv University, while teaching archaeology to children in 'Tel Aviv Youth University'.

I am currently a research fellow at Haifa University, where I research the livestock economy and human-animal relationships in the Southern Levant during the Chalcolithic period.

In 2024, I embarked on a new adventure, writing and designing a children's book series called ZooArchaeology for Kids. These educational books are my way of sharing the captivating stories of human and animals connections throughout archaeological history with young (and young-at-heart!) readers.

The series include two books that explore fundamental moments in human history: the transition from hunter-gatherer societies to the dawn of agriculture and animal domestication during and after the Neolithic Revolution. With illustrations of both complete anatomical skeletons and the living animals, I designed these books to be engaging and educational for kids of all ages.
